Carly Fiorina on Fox News Sunday, May 31, 2015 (VIDEO)

I still don’t expect her to get too far, mainly because she’ll be destroy by the media, and ultimately, she’ll be subjected to the Herman Cain treatment — although I expect, having run for office previously, Ms. Fiorina’s much more prepared for the left’s character assassination.

In any case, she’s extremely well-informed and loquacious.

Greatest Hits: Why Leftists Deny Reality?

Share

Why Leftists Deny Reality? Facts are the kryptronite to the left.

Ever try to argue facts and information with a Liberal?  Ever come away from the encounter frustrated?   Well, there's a reason for that. Here are some excerpts from an interview with Yuri Bezmenov, a defector from the Soviet Union.

I know that intelligence gathering looks more romantic…. That's probably why your Hollywood producers are so crazy about James Bond types of films. But in reality the main emphasis of the KGB is NOT in the area of intelligence at all. According to my opinion, and the opinions of many defectors of my caliber, only about 15% of time, money, and manpower is spent on espionage as such. The other 85% is a slow process which we call either ideological subversion, active measures, or psychological warfare. What it basically means is: to change the perception of reality of every American that despite of the abundance of information no one is able to come to sensible conclusions in the interest of defending themselves, their families, their community, and their country.

It's a great brainwashing process which goes very slow and is divided into four basic stages. The first stage being "demoralization". It takes from 15 to 20 years to demoralize a nation. Why that many years? Because this is the minimum number of years required to educate one generation of students in the country of your enemy exposed to the ideology of [their] enemy. In other words, Marxism-Leninism ideology is being pumped into the soft heads of at least 3 generation of American students without being challenged or counterbalanced by the basic values of Americanism; American patriotism.

The result? The result you can see — most of the people who graduated in the 60?s, dropouts or half-baked intellectuals, are now occupying the positions of power in the government, civil service, business, mass media, and educational systems. You are stuck with them. You can't get through to them. They are contaminated. They are programmed to think and react to certain stimuli in a certain pattern can not change their mind even if you expose them to authentic information. Even if you prove that white is white and black is black, you still can not change the basic perception and the logic of behavior. [alluding to Pavlov].

So, It would seem, by the admission of a former KGB official, that their efforts were successful.  If fact, the progress has even exceeded their expectations…

The demoralization process in the United States is basically completed already for the last 25 years. Actually, it's over fulfilled because demoralization now reaches such areas where not even Comrade Andropov and all his experts would even dream of such tremendous success. Most of it is done by Americans to Americans thanks to lack of moral standards. As I mentioned before, exposure to true information does not matter anymore. A person who was demoralized is unable to assess true information. The facts tell nothing to him, even if I shower him with information, with authentic proof, with documents and pictures. …he will refuse to believe it…. That's the tragedy of the situation of demoralization.

Mind you, these words were spoken in the 80?s.  I think we all recognize that the situation has deteriorated significantly since then. Think about politicians like Allen Grayson, everyone on MSNBC (and most of the MSM), and the public schools and universities.  It's all there.  Rights that do not exist are created, and rights that do exist are denied.  Capitalism is decried, and socialism is praised.  Lies, deceit, thuggery, intimidation, propaganda, and media control are all practiced by the left, and are viewed as acceptable practices.  They cling dogmatically to socialism, as it continues to destroy the country.  They deny, emphatically, all evidence to the contrary, irregardless  of it's bulk and validity.  Then, they turn and attack anyone that presents the truth.

It seems hopeless, but it isn't.  Since the last term of Bush, and especially since Obama's election, more and more Conservatives have been speaking out.   While the left has entrenched and are attacking with all of their resources (which are considerable), they are losing the debate, as well as the battle for public opinion.  Our advantage is that they are still, in spite of their best efforts, a small minority.  Our disadvantage is that while the left is statistically small, they are extremely well placed.  Since their "long march through the institutions,"  their impact reaches far beyond their numbers.

As usual, here are some ideas on how to deal with this situation:

1.  Don't engage a leftist unless you can bury them in facts.  It won't matter to the leftist, but anyone else that can see, hear, or read might be convinced by reality.

2.  Stay on message.  Leftists, when hit with reality, will change the subject to something that they think they use against you.  The classic, "Where were you when Bush was POTUS?" is easily answered by saying, "where are you now?"  You might be tempted to state that most of us didn't agree with Bush's policies, but then you are talking about history, and not what's happening now.  Also, you are defending yourself rather than dealing with Obama's policies.  Thread hijacking, ad-hominem attacks, lies, and logical fallacies are all part of the leftist playbook.  Point out that they are not responding to content, and move on with your point.  If they get shrill, let them, because you win!

3.  Don't allow yourself to be distracted.  The infiltrators, the "anarchists," and the MSM are all lying and/or threatening the movement.  While these need to be addressed, they don't have to be a primary focus.  From what I saw, the Tea Parties did a fantastic job of identifying the infiltrators.  That, and the message still got out, and that is the key.  As for the MSM, let them say what they will.  This blog, and many others, expose their lies on a regular basis.  When they lie, and anyone can look it up on-line and see the truth, the more audience they will lose.  Let them fall on their own swords.  Basically, if your adversary is self destructing, get out of the way and let them.

4.  Facts, facts, and non-violence are our weapons of choice.  Stick with those, and we win.  Forget the left, they cannot be convinced of anything.  They will likely not overcome their programming.  We are trying to convince the people that aren't sure, and might still be able to think a bit.  That too is working.  More people are coming to our cause all the time.

5.  Educate yourselves.  Read, watch, and learn.  A knowledgeable opponent will give the average leftist fits.  Again, when they get shrill, we win.

6. Stay calm.  If you lose your cool, you lose.  The goal of the leftist, beyond taking you off message, is to upset you and make you lash out, rendering you ineffective.

To sum it up, this is the key to our victory.

"First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win."

Would you invest in Rand Paul?

Rand Paul is in trouble.

At least, it looks like Rand Paul is in trouble. When answering questions about fundraising posed by Politico last week, spokesmen from both the official campaign and America’s Liberty PAC couched on their actual numbers. PAC spokesman Jesse Benton may have revealed much more than he intended when he said, "Results to date have been solid and give us lots of room for optimism as we continue. We also know this is a marathon, not a sprint."

Oof. Marathon-not-sprint is never where you want to be when other candidates are charming the multimillionaires who make national presidential campaigns tick.

Part of me believes it shouldn’t be this way. Paul has been making headlines as an anti-establishment pot-stirrer with his opposition to the impending PATRIOT Act extension. Back in 2013, an overwhelming majority of Americans stood in solidarity with Paul after he held a 13-hour filibuster protesting the use of drone strikes against American citizens. Senator Paul has been much more adept than fellow presidential contender Senator Cruz at influencing his colleagues on issues of policy without crossing the line into willful alienation—so what’s the problem?

The other side of my brain knows, though—and so do donors and strategists. More from Politico:

Among those involved the 2016 money sweepstakes, theories of Paul's struggles abound. Some point to his anti-establishment posture, which has alienated some in the business community — much of whose support has gone for Bush. Others say his more dovish foreign policy stances has turned off Jewish Republicans, many of whom view him as insufficiently pro-Israel. Still others say he's found competition from Cruz, who like Paul has branded himself as a free-market thinker.

Others contend that Paul's unpolished style might be working against him as he seeks out the support of wealthy Republican benefactors, While attending a California donor conference sponsored by Charles and David Koch, two of the nation's most powerful Republican donors, Paul was criticized for dressing casually in jeans, slouching in his chair and giving rambling answers to questions. One person briefed on the Kochs' thinking said Paul's star has faded in their eyes, and that it's now hard to see them providing substantial financial support to the Kentucky senator.

All of these? None of these? Some of these? It’s really hard to say, but what’s clear is that Candidate Rand Paul is having a much harder time building bridges than Senator Rand Paul.

Image is important, and as much as activists and in-the-bubble politicos (I’m looking at you, LI readers) like to see candidates try things that are new and different, there is and always will be such a thing as too much new and different. Donors don’t like the unexpected; jeans and chucks and a less-than-country club demeanor are all unexpected. (Anyone who has ever been in a room with Rand Paul knows that he doesn’t act like your typical politician.)

This type of thing, also unexpected:

In fact, it’s so unexpected, I can’t even begin to explain it. Michael Bay presents Amateur Wrestling? To be fair, this isn’t a product of Paul’s campaign. This ad was released by Paul’s America’s Liberty PAC in anticipation of today’s PATRIOT Act showdown.

I won’t hold this photoshop nightmare against Paul, but it does say a lot about the culture surrounding his campaign, and who they’re trying to appeal to—and this ad doesn’t give a damn about million dollar donors. (It reminds me of this weird piece of fan fiction from early last year, which also didn’t give a damn about million dollar donors. Cruz, however, has a few more than Paul, and wasn’t affiliated with he artist who put the image of my shirtless senator in my head for all eternity.)

When you’re running a major campaign, you want donors from all tax brackets. Getting those donations means pushing ad campaigns aimed at $ 5 donors, $ 250 donors, $ 1,500 donors, all the way up to supporters who write those multi-million dollar funny money checks that make you laugh because nobody has this much money. NOBODY.

Something isn’t working. Paul hired one of the buzziest creative firms in the business, which is helping him gain major ground in the digital space. We know his super PAC has a sense of humor (and a Google search history that includes “shirtless wrestler.”) He won a Senate race, so we know he has a sizable network of donors—statewides aren’t cheap, especially when you’re challenging Mitch McConnell’s anointed candidate.

Maybe it has nothing to do with strategy, or cheesy videos. Maybe it’s him.

If that’s the case, it’s going to take a lot more than a well-placed ad or soundbite to translate Paul into something donors and eventually voters can understand. Voters (and pundits and activists and bloggers) may be looking for a hero; high dollar donors are looking for a worthy investment.

It may be time for Paul’s team to sit down and ask themselves, would I invest in us? They still have time to turn things around, but for now, at least when it comes to donors, they have their answer.

#Feminism – Spawned From The Leftist Womb

Stacy McCain has published another penetrating [pun intended?] mini-essay on the Ideology of Feminism, entitled: The Feminist-Industrial Complex: Fat Lesbians vs. the 'Heteronormative Gaze' — the title tells you exactly what to expect from it.  It is, as with everything he writes on the subject, well-worth a read [and contemplation].

An interesting exchange occurred in the Comments section to this post…

NewClass Traitor:

I bought your book. I still think there are saner varieties of feminism that I find common ground with — “equity feminism” a la Christine Hoff Sommers, or the work of the Independent Women’s Forum — and that the extreme form of feminism that you portray in the book should properly be called gynosupremacism.

But Holy. Mother. Of. Pork. The authors you are quoting at length in your book do read like a study in psychopathology. No wonder one gets attacked for merely quoting them accurately: their worst enemy is their own words.

Stacy’s responses:

The point you make is, of course, one that I address directly in the introduction: “What do we mean by the word ‘feminism’?” And, carrying that question forward through the book’s examination of feminism as a political philosophy — founded on a theory of women’s oppression under “male supremacy” — I show how feminism, especially as it is taught in university Women’s Studies programs, is engaged in a War Against Human Nature.

The idea of a “feminism” that is compatible with capitalism, democracy and human happiness — which is what Christina Hoff Sommers and other Republican-aligned “feminists” have attempted to promote — suffers from two basic problems:

1. It is not recognized as “feminism” by actual feminists, i.e., the leaders and spokeswomen of the feminist movement, who are and always have been politically aligned with the Left, especially with the Democrat Party in the United States.

2. Trying to call a pro-capitalist, pro-freedom agenda “feminist” lends itself to confusion and accusations of dishonesty.

Republican “feminists” are actually opposed to the radical agenda of the organized (left-wing) feminist movement, so that they are for all practical purposes anti-feminists. Why not simply state this in the most direct terms? If we believe that the best interests of women are served by a free-market economic system and a preservation of constitutional liberty, and if we know that the radical agenda of feminism is hostile to those aims, conservatives should simply state the truth: “Feminism is bad for women, and therefore conservatives oppose it.”

And…

In fewer words:

Then Adobe Walls chimed-in with his usual spot-on pithiness:

Feminism is mere leftism, making the solution obvious.

Exactly.

Feminism is an Ideology that was born in the Leftist Womb. Thus, it and all of it’s manifestations are forever the flowering of an Evil seed.

Those Women on the Right who claim to be Feminists are aiding and abetting the Leftist Narrative.

I would highly recommend they seek out some non-Ideological term for what it is they believe in and what they seek.  Ladies, be warned, however: in your quest to rid yourselves of the taint of an ‘-ist’ and ‘-ism’, you may discover that some of what you believe is rooted in that plague of Modern Mankind: Ideology.  If that happens, to quote Ayn Rand: ‘Check your premises’ [I wish she had taken her own advice].

SIDENOTE: If you haven’t bought Stacy McCain’s book yet…

Elizabeth Warren honored with new nickname: ‘Flipping Bull’

**Written by Doug Powers

Because of this latest bit of hypocrisy, Elizabeth Warren has not one but two home shows in production at cable nets: “Property Comrades” and “Hammer (& Sickle) Time!” Here’s why…

Elizabeth Warren’s 2006 book “All Your Worth,” in the section talking about home-buying myths, contained this:

null

With that in mind, check out this gem from National Review:

Warren rose to political prominence in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis as a crusader against big banks and a dispenser of common-sense economic advice. She campaigned for the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, intended to shield people from the predations of the mortgage and credit-card industries, among others.
[…]
But Warren bought and sold at least five properties for profit at a different time in her life, before the cratering economy and a political career made her a star.
[…]
The profits from these flipped homes adds up: Even excluding the property sold by her brother, Warren and her husband have made at least $ 240,500 flipping homes (before deducting the unknown sum they invested in remodeling).

The details here.

In fairness though, maybe a six-figure income from house-flipping isn’t considered much compared to the kind of wampum what Dances With Identity Theft is accustomed to.

And don’t forget to pick up Warren’s latest book, available only in the Harvard faculty lounge, select DNC gatherings and at the pantsuit t-shirt stand at “Ready for Hillary” meetings:

Your Sunday Hymn: Oh God Beyond All Praising

Oh God Beyond All Praising is performed here by theMormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra,  with Anton Armstrong conducting. Composed by Gustav Holst with lyrics by Michael Perry and arrangement by Dan Forrest.

This gorgeous hymn with its powerful and profound lyrics has become a favorite at weddings.

Here’s another beautiful rendition. I can’t get enough of this hymn:

Lyrics:

O God beyond all praising,
we worship you today
and sing the love amazing
that songs cannot repay;
for we can only wonder
at every gift you send,
at blessings without number
and mercies without end:
we lift our hearts before you
and wait upon your word,
we honor and adore you,
our great and mighty Lord.

Then hear, O gracious Savior,
accept the love we bring,
that we who know your favor
may serve you as our king;
and whether our tomorrows
be filled with good or ill,
we’II triumph through our sorrows
and rise to bless you still:
to marvel at your beauty
and glory in your ways,
and make a joyful duty
our sacrifice of praise.

Martin O’Malley’s eco-sham confessional: Climate change is the ‘biggest business opportunity’ America has seen in a century

**Written by Doug Powers

Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley is running for president, and in his first speech as a candidate, he said what Al Gore only thinks but doesn’t say out loud:

O’MALLEY: And if together we take these actions, the American dream will live again. Climate change is real, and it also happens to be the greatest business opportunity to come to our country for 100 years. So we must create an American jobs agenda for America’s renewable energy future.

Can an economy based on climate change fugazzi flourish? It’s confusing, because how does a nation hitch part of its economy to something that is also its biggest national security threat?

Obama Administration Moving Forward With New Gun Regulations

Obama has famously (infamously?) long been enamored of the idea of fundamentally transforming America, and one of the foundational aspects of American culture that he has in his sights is the Second Amendment and Americans’ firmly held belief in their right to keep and bear arms.

His former attorney general, Eric Holder, went so far as to proclaim—back in the 1990’s—that “we really need to brainwash people into thinking about guns in a vastly different way.”

At least he understood that it’s the American people who resist infringement of this right.  The administration has tried to pass gun control legislation, most notably in the wake of the Sandy Hook shootings, but such attempts fail.

Completing missing the fact that Americans are strongly supportive of their right to bear arms, Obama and his assortment of anti-Second Amendment zealots blame the NRA:

"But the power of NRA and the gun lobby in Congress is formidable," Obama said. "And you know, we're going to keep chipping away at this, but until you get intense public demands for this, it's probably not going to happen because some special interests and lobbyists in Washington are really, really strong and their membership feels very intensely about the issue. Whereas the general public is concerned about it, but doesn't make it their top priority."

He also recognizes that Congress—even when Democrats held supermajorities in both houses—is unable to pass the sort of sweeping gun control legislation he seeks.  In his 2014 State of the Union address, he promised gun control “with or without Congress,” and it seems he’s working on multiple fronts to make that happen.

From taxing bullets, to gun locks, to gun recalls / buyback programs, to targeting children’s pop-tarts and otherwise controlling the narrative about guns, Obama and other anti-Second Amendment advocates are working overtime in their frantic bid to disarm the American people.

Such measures are met with considerable push back even in deep blue states like Connecticut.  In New York, D. C., and Oregon, citizens are engaging in civil disobedience, protesting, and otherwise signaling that they will not relinquish their weapons without a fight.

That, however, does not stop the ongoing assault on our Second Amendment rights.  The Hill reports:

The Justice Department plans to move forward this year with more than a dozen new gun-related regulations, according to list of rules the agency has proposed to enact before the end of the Obama administration.

The regulations range from new restrictions on high-powered pistols to gun storage requirements. Chief among them is a renewed effort to keep guns out of the hands of people who are mentally unstable or have been convicted of domestic abuse.

The new rules, The Hill, continues, are aimed at expanding the number of people who will be banned from owning a gun:

The Justice Department plans to issue new rules expanding criteria for people who do not qualify for gun ownership, according to the recently released Unified Agenda, which is a list of rules that federal agencies are developing.

Some of the rules come in response to President Obama's call to reduce gun violence in the wake of Sandy Hook. He issued 23 executive actions shortly after the shooting aimed at keeping guns away from dangerous people, and some of those items remain incomplete.

The “dangerous people” may include “a person who spanked his kid, or yelled at his wife, or slapped her husband," warned Michael Hammond, legislative counsel for the Gun Owners of America.

In addition to these “dangerous people” who cannot be trusted with a gun, the Obama administration seeks to include anyone who has ever had any problems with depression, anxiety, or even seen a psychologist.  Considering the popularity of “seeing a shrink” and the over-prescription of antidepressants and other mood-enhancing drugs, this is a potentially sweeping change that will affect tens of millions of Americans.

"A person who experienced a temporary reaction to a traumatic event or who has trouble handling household finances may well be treated the same as a violent psychopath," the NRA wrote.
“Not only is this unjust and stigmatizing, it creates disincentives for those who need mental health treatment to seek it, increasing whatever risks are associated with untreated mental illness," it added.

The same rationale used to disarm veterans of our armed forces is writ large.  Consider: a 2011 Harvard study found a 400% increase in the number of Americans taking antidepressants in just over a decade.  According to ABCNews, 1 in 10 Americans are using them.  And that’s just antidepressants.

On the bright side: With each Obama push for gun control, gun and ammo sales skyrocket.  He may not be good for the over all economy, but he’s a boon to the gun industry.

Fat Shaming Video Warns of "Mythical" Problems, Like Heart Attack, Hypertension, and DiabetesWould you believe that there are people out there that think that health is a social construct?  You’d better believe it!

Clearly, he's a victim of a social construct!

If you've been following some of the nonsense going out out there, you know that there is now a movement to de-legitimize healthy living.  Some call it "fat justice."  Of course, it's component "oppressor" is called "thin privilege."I covered this for a while prior to my "semi-retirement."

Is "Fat Justice" to blame for increases in Diabetes?

Fat Liberation vs. Rape Culture: Opposite Sides of the Same Jelly Donut

Since we Covered 'Thin Privilege,' We'll Add 'Fat Justice' to the Plate

Are You Aware of Your 'Thin Privilege?'

The basic premise of the entire "Fat Justice/Thin Privilege" delusion appears to be that health is a social construct designed solely to take careers, sexual attraction, and prosperity from fat people, and give it to thin ones.   And, all of those health problems that are scientifically proven to come with being overweight, like heart attack, hypertension, and diabetes?  It's all made up to make shame the fat, and reward the thin!

Here is a video that will surely be labeled as "fat shaming" propaganda!

My portrayal of the "Fat Justice/Thin Privilege" folks, of course, is largely parody.  After all, how can one discuss something so ridiculous, and not laugh.  However, for the "Fat Justice/Thin Privilege" crowd, it's very serious.

As serious as a heart attack, you might say.

Washington D.C. Metro surrenders to potential Assassin’s Veto

U.S. News (Steven Nelson) reports:

The mass transit authority that oversees commuter buses and trains in the nation's capital is banning issue-oriented ads for the remainder of the year after receiving an ad proposal featuring a cartoon of Muhammad, Islam's central figure.

[…]

It's hard to characterize this, I think, as speech derogatory of Muslims in general as people (though such speech would be constitutionally protected, and in my view couldn't be restricted through viewpoint-based rules banning such derogatory expression). It is rather criticism of a particular belief, the belief that no one is allowed to draw Muhammad, on pain of punishment by the sword. Indeed, it is prescient criticism, given the juxtaposition of the ad and the metro system's response to it. As artistic statements go, this one is spot-on.

The reason for restricting it, then — even by totally rejecting all issue-oriented ads, in an attempt to make the restriction viewpoint-neutral — seems likely to be either a general condemnation of blasphemy, or a specific fear that speech that offends extremist Muslims is too dangerous for American transport agencies to display. And indeed, this is what "Former D.C. Council member Jim Graham, who served 12 years as a member of the Metro system's board of directors and twice as its chairman" told the U.S. News:

Graham says he instinctively supports people's freedom to advertise controversial messages, recalling his fight to place HIV awareness ads in the D.C. system in the early days of the AIDS pandemic in the 1980s.

But he says current board members are "obviously in a bind because we know what happens when you criticize Muhammad, we know how some people react to that. I don't think we ever had a situation [in the past] where someone threatened to blow up a bus."

Graham says he's not aware of any credible threat in response to the ad, but that, "We know worldwide what has happened to others who have gone down this path."

The Washington Post story (Paul Duggan) likewise reports:

"My view is, you put that ad up on the side of a bus, you turn that bus into a terrorism target," a top Metro official said Thursday, speaking on the condition of anonymity because the agency anticipates being sued over the ban. "I think it's a very bad outcome for everybody. But it's a risk we don't want to put our passengers under." …

"I think there's a potential threat and a danger if we were to accept that ad," Metro board member Michael Goldman said. "Better to be safe than sorry.”

Yep, just keep feeding that crocodile, guys.

Bowe Bergdahl: Desertion, Misbehavior Before The Enemy Charges – AMEEN!

“Ameen,” in Arabic means ‘Amen.’ See the story of Bowe Bergdahl’s father and his “Ameen” below. U.S. Army spokesman, Col. J. W. King, speaking from Ft. Bragg, has just announced desertion charges filed against Beau Bergdahl. Traded for five of the Taliban’s worst, or their best, depending on who is doing the deciding, Bergdahl received full pay after he ran away from his unit, and when we ‘saved’ him five years later, he learned he had been promoted to Sergeant, “in absentia,” or other reports say the promotion happened after he was retrieved from the enemy camp. So much was known about the night he walked away from his unit, that I see no reason to honor him with a rank he didn’t deserve. Under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, he will now have an Article 32 hearing, often compared to a civilian Grand Jury hearing. (For Information on the 8 soldiers who died trying to find Bergdahl, visit here.)

Bowe Bergdahl

Bowe Bergdahl

Robert 'Bob' Bergdahl, father of Bowe Bergdahl

Robert ‘Bob’ Bergdahl, father of Bowe Bergdahl

1) Article 85: Desertion with intention to shirk important or hazardous duty

2) Article 99: Misbehavior Before the Enemy, endangering the unit, command, unit or place. I understand this also includes casting aside his weapons and/or ammunition.

If the Article 32 hearing recommends further action, a General Court Martial, a Special Court Martial, Dismeanor Charges or “any other action deemed necessary, may be taken.

The charges can bring a Dishonorable Discharge, loss of rank to E1, forfeiture of all pay, and up to a maximum five years in prison for each charge.

Judge Andrew Napolitano is on Fox this minute saying that there can be far more, “his defense team’s nightmare,” that could bring life in prison. You might remember that some in his unit have claimed that three (some say six) men died while searching for Bergdahl in Afghanistan. More here.

On Bergdahl’s release, his parents were hosted at the White House, with Barack Obama at their side, in the Rose Garden, I believe, the father, Bob Bergdahl has a Twitter history. Take a look at this from my previous post:

In June 2014, Bob Bergdahl, Bowe Bergdahl’s father Tweeted that he was working to free all Gitmo prisoners. He said that God will repay for the death of every Afghan child. In another tweet dated May 28, 2014, Bob tweeted in Arabic, and in English, saying “@ABalkhi my son speaks about unjust death of Afghan children; shahamat-movie.com.”

The soldier, 28, disappeared from Combat Outpost Mest-Lalak in Paktika province, Afghanistan, on June 30, 2009. He has been accused of leaving his patrol base alone and intentionally before he was captured by Taliban insurgents.

He spent five years as a captive under the Taliban before he was freed in a May 31 prisoner swap that also freed five Taliban leaders from the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba…

As the general court-martial convening authority, Milley has several courses of action, from no further action against Bergdahl to court-martial.

The case presents a challenge for the Army’s leadership, which has to decide whether to punish a soldier who spent five years as a prisoner of war or essentially overlook the allegations of misconduct that surrounded his disappearance. Source: Army Times

Of course: Unions that supported $15 minimum wage in L.A. want an exemption

**Written by Doug Powers

We now have an answer to the old question about what happens when the dog actually catches the car.

Beyond parody:

Labor leaders, who were among the strongest supporters of the citywide minimum wage increase approved last week by the Los Angeles City Council, are advocating last-minute changes to the law that could create an exemption for companies with unionized workforces.

The push to include an exception to the mandated wage increase for companies that let their employees collectively bargain was the latest unexpected detour as the city nears approval of its landmark legislation to raise the minimum wage to $ 15 an hour by 2020.

For much of the past eight months, labor activists have argued against special considerations for business owners, such as restaurateurs, who said they would have trouble complying with the mandated pay increase.

The rationale is gold:

But Rusty Hicks, who heads the county Federation of Labor and helps lead the Raise the Wage coalition, said Tuesday night that companies with workers represented by unions should have leeway to negotiate a wage below that mandated by the law.

“With a collective bargaining agreement, a business owner and the employees negotiate an agreement that works for them both. The agreement allows each party to prioritize what is important to them,” Hicks said in a statement. “This provision gives the parties the option, the freedom, to negotiate that agreement. And that is a good thing.”

What a hilariously pathetic attempt to increase unionization: “Let Big Labor organize your workers and you too could be exempt from laws we demanded on behalf of working families.”

Sadness: Beau Biden, son of VP dies at 46

Very sad news for Biden family – Joseph “Beau” Biden III, an Iraq War veteran who served as the attorney general of Delaware, died Saturday at age 46.

Via CNN:

He died after battling brain cancer, according to the vice president’s office.

“Beau Biden was, quite simply, the finest man any of us have ever known,” his father wrote in a statement.

Biden had suffered known health problems dating back to 2010, when he experienced a stroke that did not affect his motor skills or speech.

In 2013, Beau Biden was treated at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston after he became disoriented and weak while on vacation. He was diagnosed with brain cancer, and after undergoing surgery was given a clean bill of health.

Unfortunatly, the cancer returned this Spring, and Biden received “aggressive treatment at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.”

Alas – the treatment wasn’t enough to save him.

Greatest Hits: I’m a democrat; You Owe Me

Share

I'm a Democrat; You Owe Me:  Snarky Basterd took a shot at democrats, and did not miss.

I'm a democrat. You owe me.

I'm a democrat. I have my own pile of money, but I want yours, too, including the four pennies you have rattling around in the bottom of that peanut butter jar you frugal idiots like to use as a change holder. Give it up! You owe me.

I'm a democrat. I just say I like the public school system. My kids go to private schools so that your kids can go to public schools and learn how to be good little democrats like me. When my kids grow up and become better members of a collectivist society, and your kids grow up confused, my kids will get government jobs and take more money and freedom from your kids. You owe me.

I'm a democrat. I have a job with health insurance, but I think it's everyone else's fault when I get sick and have to cut back on my lifestyle so I can pay for health care that should be free, along with cars and houses and big screen TVs. You owe me.

I'm a democrat. There is no god. You can go ahead and get down on your knees and pray to the ceiling for forgiveness and strength and peace, but I'll be standing right behind you with a tire iron, bashing your skull and stealing your wallet. You owe me.

I'm a democrat. I hate people. I would rather sleep with my dog or a cucumber or a tree than with another person…unless I can just dump them on the curb after we're through. You just have sex to make more people so you can continue to earn more money while you rape the planet. You owe me.

I'm a democrat. I love taxes. It's patriotic…for you…to pay them. I don't pay any, anyway. And if I have to, I've figured out loop holes or have offshore accounts to shelter my money, so the government never really gets too much from me anyway. You owe me.

I'm a democrat. It's not only my right but also my duty to take freedom and representative republicanism from you, little by little, and replace it with government bureaucracy. From each according to his ability, to each according to his need. I'm needy. You owe me.

I'm a democrat. I have a $ 20 million vacation playground on Martha's Vineyard and a guarded compound in South Chicago and belong to the richest majority in Washington's history. But I hate rich people who aren't democrats and want your property too so I can save endangered swamp rats and build turtle tunnels and fix toilets. You owe me.

I'm a democrat. There are more of you than there are of me. You breathe too much. I've told the world outlandish lies that you're causing global warming, using faulty correlations to get everyone so worried they're about to let me tax thin air. And you'll breathe a lot less. You owe me.

I'm a democrat. I'm an elitist. I'm perfect. I'm not like all of you stupid wingnuts out there working your greedy little fingers to the bone trying to make a little money and feed your family and have something to call successful when you retire. You owe me.

I'm a democrat. I live in the city so I can get stupid drunk and piss on the streets when I want and kick your parked car when it gets in my way. It's too bad that you have all those guns in your humble suburban and country homes. If you didn't, I'd come and toss you out on your naked ass and make you live in the fetid cities that my government policies screwed up. You owe me.

I'm a democrat. I think you hate homosexuals. I have no idea that you just want to be left alone and live your life the way you see fit and not have your children taught with government money that they should seek alternative lifestyles for the fun of it. I just want you to do what I think you should do with your life. You owe me.

I'm a democrat. I'm so tolerant I can't tolerate anyone who doesn't think the way I do. In fact, I hate white people. I hate all people. I hate myself. I hate myself so much that I hate you even more when you are happy. You owe me.

I'm a democrat. I don't know how to do anything for myself. I need to be told what to do. I don't think human beings are capable of taking care of themselves. That's what government is for. You owe me.

I'm a democrat. I don't think any people should have rights. I think fish and frogs and grass should, however, and I want to represent them in court…and you to pay for it. You owe me.

I'm a democrat. I'm a child. I act like a child and I think like a child and I live like a child and I throw up my hands and have little fits when I don't get my way. There should be no consequences for anything I do. But there should be consequences for you, even if you're blameless in what I accuse you of. You owe me.

I'm a democrat. I'm racist but I get others to think that you are racist just because I call you one. It's a riot to watch you squirm because I know you have a conscience. I do not. You owe me.

I'm a democrat. I was born poor or middle class or rich, but it doesn't matter. I was born black or white or Asian or Latina, but it still doesn't matter. In fact, it's Bush's fault that I was even allowed to be born at all. You owe me.

I'm a democrat. I want health care at your expense, while I'm young and virulent and child-like. But then I want you to kill me when I start to get old and weak and feeble, so that all of my young and virulent and child-like democrat friends can have health care at your expense.

Then I want to come back to life as a rock, so lots of birds can shit on me. They owe me, too, for being a loony moonbat.
