Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there! We’re cooking steaks on the grill in a little while to celebrate the patriarchy (“NOW and PETA hardest hit”), so it’s a good day for a “talk about whatever you want” open thread.
Here are a few things I ran across recently just to kick things off…
*****
In San Francisco yesterday, Hillary Clinton said racism isn’t confined to “kooks and Klansmen,” but it also exists among “affluent whites,” and that “white privilege” needs to end. So vote for an affluent white candidate, or something.

“This. Is CNN.”:

“The most trusted name in news,” ladies and gentlemen.

President Obama is upset that Americans have failed to keep his promise to fix Washington:
“When I ran in 2008, I in fact did not say I would fix it. I said we could fix it,” Obama told an audience of about 250 at a fundraising event here at the stately hillside home of film mogul Tyler Perry. “I didn’t say, ‘Yes, I can.’ I said, ‘Yes, we can.’”
A quick preview of Obama’s presidential farewell speech coming in January of 2017:
*****
President Obama called for the government to show a “sense of urgency” to act after nine people were murdered at a church in Charleston, SC. Obama then headlined four high-dollar fundraisers in California and went golfing for two days. Leading by example!

Remember “al-Qaeda is on the run,” ISIS is “JV” and “the world is less violent than ever”? Good times:

This quote from John Kerry should have terrorists shivering with fear:
Starting soon: Watch the release of the 2014 Country Reports on Terrorism at 11am ET on http://t.co/58Uc9lZRv7! pic.twitter.com/qBpVtkrnpa

That sounds more like a motivational speech for the Yale debate team than a call to action against terrorism. And if Kerry’s going to expose and shame any hypocrisy, he should start with his own.
Happy Father’s Day all!
