Jeb Bush slings ‘failed secretary’ arrows at Hillary, who deflects them with the Liberty Medal he gave her not long ago

**Written by Doug Powers

Yesterday was Jeb Bush’s first day as an official GOP candidate, and his immediate focus was on Hillary Clinton:

Newly declared Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush is fast out of the gate when it comes to criticizing Hillary Rodham Clinton, the Democratic front-runner.

In his New Hampshire debut as an official candidate, Bush commended Clinton as tough and smart Tuesday but labelled her record as secretary of state “a complete failure” and said she didn’t accomplish much as a New York senator before that.

No argument here. But, Team Hillary might have a ready-made comeback thanks to an award Jeb bestowed not even two years ago:

Bush, the chairman of the National Constitution Center, is presenting Clinton with the organization's 2013 Liberty Medal.

"Former Secretary Clinton has dedicated her life to serving and engaging people across the world in democracy," Bush said in a statement released earlier this summer. "These efforts as a citizen, an activist, and a leader have earned Secretary Clinton this year's Liberty Medal."

Bonus points: Bush presented Hillary with the award on the eve of the second anniversary of the Benghazi attack.

This is why the GOP can’t have nice things.
