Expect A Big Liberal Push To Change Minds On Sanctuary Cities

Rasmussen released the results of a poll finding that a majority of voters believe sanctuary cities should by punished for refusing to enforce federal immigration laws.

Sixty-two percent (62%) of Likely U.S. Voters think the U.S. Justice Department should take legal action against cities that provide sanctuary for illegal immigrants. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 26% oppose Justice Department action against sanctuary cities. Twelve percent (12%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Fifty-eight percent (58%) believe the federal government should cut off funds to cities that provide sanctuary for illegal immigrants. Thirty-two percent (32%) disagree, while 10% are not sure. This marks little change from May 2011 when legislation was unsuccessfully proposed in Congress to stop all federal funding for sanctuary cities.

In a sane world, politicians would see poll results like this and decide to follow the will of the people. But we don’t live in a sane world, so the left will start doing everything possible to change people’s minds. They will enlist the help of celebrities and the media to convince the masses that wrong is right and to think differently is akin to a heinous crime. Before we know it, a majority will believe that every city should be a sanctuary for illegal immigrants and the Supreme Court will mandate it.
