Open thread: ‘Hillary Clinton is like a famous astronaut’s wife’ edition

**Written by Doug Powers

Since I’ve got a lawn to get mowed before some rain moves in, how about another Sunday open thread? Today is brought to you in part by Happyscrapper, Jameson Irish Whisky and Alka Seltzer Morning Relief.

Here are just a couple things to kick it off:

Bloomberg Politics’ Mark “there is no pro-Hillary media bias” Halperin wants to know how out-of-proportion righties would be blowing the story if Bill and Hillary got traffic citations instead of the Rubios:

The ticket(s) never would have been written and the cop would have a cushy gig at the Clinton Foundation.

How about a new game: Now let’s pretend the Rubios sold uranium to Putin — what would the press reaction be?

My good friend Lanny Davis wrote a column in which he compared the media frenzy around Hillary Clinton to that endured by Louise Shepard, wife of first American in space, Alan Shepard. This is all only a valid comparison if Louise Shepard had been running for president at the time and the Mercury Control Center was located in a Chappaqua, New York basement.

Perhaps it’s in honor of the U.S. space program that Hillary Clinton’s re-launching her campaign so often.

Anyway, here’s proof that Davis might be correct:

A recent poll shows that more Americans now have a positive view of George W. Bush than they do of Barack Obama. Obviously that’s Bush’s fault.

*****

Four staffers for Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake have resigned in the span of just a few days. Something about “rats” and “sinking ships” comes to mind.

*****

The Bernie Sanders campaign is a neat perk at his presidential rallies: Priority “first five rows” seating for anybody who looks like Bernie Sanders:

*****

Last but not least, condolences to the Biden family. Nothing harder on a parent than the loss of a child, no matter what age.

Have a good Sunday, all!
