Hillary Clinton’s speech Thursday at Texas Southern University was misleading, dishonest, hypocritical, misguided, insulting, inaccurate and pandering — exactly what I expected:
In one of her first speeches as a presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton took aim straight at the GOP—including several Republican governors in the 2016 field—for what she categorized as a widespread undermining of the American people’s right to vote.
“We have a responsibility to say clearly and directly what’s really going on in our country,” said Clinton, who spoke Thursday at Texas Southern University in Houston after receiving an award. “Because what is happening is a sweeping effort to disempower and disenfranchise people of color, poor people, and young people from one end of our country to the other.”
She said the Republican Party “at all levels of government” must stop “fear-mongering about a phantom epidemic” of voter fraud and explain “why they’re so scared of letting citizens have their say.”

Clinton said an effort must be made to make voting easier across the country, as opposed to efforts from Republicans who she said are “systematically and deliberately trying to stop millions of American citizens” from casting their ballots.“What part of democracy are they afraid of?” she asked.
Pretty funny, considering she was the person fear-mongering about a phantom epidemic while the clink of coins being dropped in the passing Clinton Foundation collection plate permeated Hillary’s capable tribute to Alinsky.
One thing Hillary wanted to make clear above all else is that she’s all about an engaged and informed electorate:
"I would say that it is a cruel irony, but no coincidence that millennials — the most diverse, tolerant and inclusive generation in American history — are now facing so much exclusion," Clinton said. "We should be doing everything we can to get young people more engaged in democracy, not less."
Helping young people become “engaged in democracy” (it’s actually a constitutional republic but there’s no point in quibbling with the insane) must be why she’s avoiding the media, maintained a secret email server and lied her ass off about civics 101.
Clinton also called for automatic voter registration — people turning 18 would have their information entered into a federal database. As Hillary made that proposal, the irony gods made their presence known right on cue:
At Clinton’s speech where she blasted how difficult it is to vote along with the unfair ID process, this was among the requirements for media access: “Show your picture ID at the check-in table to receive your credential.”
Perfect.
