It’s often the most innocuous things in life that result in monumental memories.
A few years ago, twins brothers from North Carolina fell in love with the board game Battle Ship. Battle Ship sparked their curiosity in naval warfare. And the rest is, as they say, history.
A family vacation to see the retired USS Yorktown was a game changing experience for the twins. “I just realized how amazing history can be,” said one of the boys.
During their visit to the USS Yorktown, the boys learned about a man named Robert Harding who served on the Yorktown during World War II. They were able to obtain his email address and began corresponding with Harding daily.
CBS Evening News worked with the Yorktown to bring Harding and the twins together for the first time.
Mr. Harding had seldom discussed his war stories but said, “I guess I needed someone to talk to about it. It’s surprising the way it works out,” choking back tears.
Our connections to the past are a powerful bond indeed.

Bill Nye, the liberal establishment’s cartoonish Pseudoscience Guy, packages progressive ideology in childish goofiness so as to render it less menacing as he preaches disproven global warming theory to kids young enough to take it at face value. Although his attempts to implant fear of “climate change” are laughable, his underlying message should make your hair stand on end:
“Climate change is a real deal everybody…
“Now back in 1750 there were about one-and-a-half billion people in the world. Well today there is 7.2 going on 7.3 billion people.
“Well that's the problem. There's billions of people breathing and burning the same thin atmosphere."
This is where the global warming hoax moves beyond a Trojan horse for more taxes, regulation, and wealth redistribution and into the still more malevolent area of population reduction.
Progressive authorities who believe there are too many of us are a lot more frightening than the prospect of the climate continuing to fluctuate like it always has.

Let’s just play along for a moment with the idea that the Supremes interpret the Constitution, rather than issuing arbitrary decrees that are then wrapped in the Constitution for window dressing so we don’t rebel. That would mean that the homosexual marriage edict was good news for those who exercise their Second Amendment liberties by carrying concealed:
With the high court's latest ruling on same-sex marriages, some contend the decision could lead to increased gun rights, specifically national CCW reciprocity, by using the same argument.
Friday the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that the Fourteenth Amendment requires a state to license a marriage between two people of the same sex and recognize those sanctioned by other states.
"No longer may this liberty be denied," Justice Anthony M. Kennedy wrote for the majority in the landmark decision that arguably made same sex marriage a reality in the 13 remaining states that continued to ban the practice.
With similar logic applied, gun rights advocates argue that the nation's patchwork of firearms laws governing the concealed carry of handguns are now circumspect under the same guidelines. In short, they reason if marriage equality is guaranteed from state to state, then so should concealed carry rights.
"To paraphrase what Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy said about same-sex marriage," noted Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms Chairman Alan Gottlieb in a statement Friday, "no right is more profound than the right of self-preservation, and under the Constitution, all citizens should be able to exercise the right of self-defense anywhere in the country. It disparages their ability to do so, and diminishes their personhood to deny the right to bear arms they have in their home states when they are visiting other states."
Even if some of them apparently couldn’t care less what is written in the Constitution, the Supremes could be wondering if they have overstepped to the point of generating popular resistance, and be in a mood to make themselves look more legitimate. This might be a good time to ask why the Fourteenth Amendment doesn’t apply in repressive states like New York when it comes to guns, regarding not only concealed carry but also other unconstitutional restrictions.
Unfortunately, rather than sensibly apply their ruling to guns, they may repeal the Second Amendment altogether, just as the homosexual marriage decree effectively repeals the free exercise of religion clause in the First. Then we will find out whether they need to worry about whether we think they have overstepped.

«Life Imitates Art Far More Than Art Imitates Life» — Oscar Wilde
On a lighter note, the ancient philosophical discussion about whether art imitates life or life imitates art has finally been put to rest by the latest box office blockbuster Jurassic World.
Without giving too much away, the fourth in the Jurassic Park series of movies centers on a theme park populated with cloned dinosaurs where the star attraction is a creature named Indominus Rex.
This monster has been created using the DNA of several predatory dinosaurs mixed with that of modern day animals. Velociraptors, the intelligent and calculating stars of the previous Jurassic movies have been trained to accept Indominus as their alpha.
Inevitably Indominus escapes causing havoc and mayhem and leaving death and destruction its wake.
The highly successful series can be considered art encompassing several disciplines including script writing, acting and visual presentation.
It doesn’t take a giant leap in imagination to see that this scenario is happening in the present day political world. Since democracy has been reduced to nothing more than a ballot every few years it has allowed a small elite who mindlessly pursue political power in order to dominate others to pervert the process.
Looking at the modern political world one should be forgiven for seeing the parallels with the artistic world of the film creators. A group of politicians has been created by the power brokers who are so alike they could be clones sharing the same DNA.
With the removal of honesty and integrity from the electoral process politicians have been indoctrinated with the same disciplines as the movie industry such as script writing, acting and visual presentation. These fakes look the same, they talk the same, they behave in the same manner, they use the same publicity tricks to con the public into believing they care.
Nothing could be further from the truth; once these clones have been let loose on an unsuspecting world they cause havoc and mayhem, leaving death and destruction in their wake.
Despite a population of some three hundred and fifty million, the best the American people can come up with are dinosaurs in the form of a sixty-seven year old Hillary Clinton and seventy-four year old Bernie Sanders; should these two front runners trip up along the campaign trail then seventy-two year old Joe Biden or sixty-six year old Elizabeth Warren are waiting in the wings.
In truth it doesn’t matter which one is chosen, they can only offer the modern political equivalent of a primeval swamp i.e socialism. Like the dinosaurs of the Jurassic era these people do not have the brain capacity to think outside of their instinctive behavior, thus even though socialism continually fails wherever it is imposed, its all they have to offer.
On the British side of the pond things are no better. The choices for leader of the Labour Party after Red Ed Miliband’s epic failure at the last election are straight out of the Dipshitodocus enclosure.
Andy Burnham, who has earned himself the moniker of ‘Body Bags’ Burnham after presiding over the unnecessary deaths of twelve hundred patients at the Mid Staffs NHS trust while he was Minister of Health.
Yvette Cooper, the other half of the husband and wife team comprising herself and Ed Balls. Both Secretaries of State for the disastrous Blair/Brown governments which engineered the bankruptcy of the British economy, the catastrophic drop in educational standards and the mass immigration disaster.
Jeremy Corbyn, a hardline socialist from the old school who is so off the scale he boasts friendship with the Hamas and Hezbollah leadership.
Liz Kendall, without a care for the disaster that was visited upon the British people by her mentor, she is touting herself as a ‘Blairite’, the fabulously wealthy former Labour leader who famously claimed that «he came to socialism via Marxism».
Unfortunately, the people on both sides of the pond who continue to vote these people into office have not evolved beyond the Neanderthal stage and have not yet developed the intelligence to see beyond the tips of the flint spearheads.
All us Homo Sapiens can do is to hope that human evolution speeds up so that the Neanderthal voters become extinct and take the political dinosaurs with them.
